September 17 - October 22 (Tuesdays 6:30pm - 9:30pm)
In this six-week class, participants will explore and refine the process of embodying character, listening to, and being impacted by, their scene partner, and making compelling and dynamic choices in their work.
Amy Newman and Sarah Lucht will utilize multiple approaches to scene work, from Meisner to Uta Hagen, with an emphasis on Stanislavsky’s foundation of objective, obstacle, and tactics. Beginning with a simple Open Scene and moving on to scripted work from contemporary playwrights, we will explore breath and body work to support emotional availability; and develop and hone vocal and physical technique to support the actor’s unique response and expression.
This class is recommended for actors of any experience level who wish to stay in physical and emotional shape for the demands of working on stage, as well as for actors who wish to grow in their craft and learn from each other and the process.
Enrollment Cost: $200
